Q. What financial information does Nikkei NEEDS provide?
 
A. NEEDS supplies a wide range of financial data covering listed and JASDAQ equities, indices, listed and unlisted bond markets, derivatives and commodity markets, corporate fundamental data, earnings estimates, corporate actions, foreign exchange and macro-economic statistics etc. Please refer to the detailed data provided in other parts of this website.

Q. Who are Nikkei NEEDS customers?
 
A. NEEDS is currently used by all major Japanese banks, a true testament  to the   integrity of its service. Over 95% of foreign-affiliated securities companies trading in Japan also use NEEDS.

Q. What are the advantages of NEEDS financial statement data?

A. Nikkei compiles
1) Tanshin "Flash" data
2) "Yuho" Annual Reports
3) Nikkei's 'Questionnaires' collected from each company.
Items are also calculated by Nikkei for consistency.

Q. Which code is used in NEEDS database?
 
A. NEEDS mainly uses 2 types of code -
1) "Security Code" (4-digit code also known as "Quick Code") assigned by the Security Code Conference in Japan for listed companies.
2) Nikkei Company Code (Nikkei's original code), which is used for both listed and unlisted companies.   The same code is never re-assigned to another company. We also have ISIN codes for fixed incomes and equities.
