Fair Value accounting has become essential to evaluate Japanese bonds.
Nikkei provides fair value of bonds listed on Japanese stock exchanges
and the OTC Market as well as unlisted bonds.
Fair Value of listed bonds is based on the 'Pension Fund Association
Standards' - guidelines adopted by the Pension Fund Association
for measuring fair value of bonds in Japan in order to rate their
pension fund assets at a fair value.
Fair value of unlisted bonds is calculated using the 'Base Quotation
of Authority Bond' announced by the Japan Securities Dealers Association
(JSDA).
